VOLUNTEER TO SERVE

City and State government depends upon the involvement of residents who serve in volunteer capacities on local and state boards and commissions. Boards and commissions set policy and make decisions on a whole range of issues that impact you. They oversee police, fire and public safety, education, health, civil service/hiring, zoning and land use, libraries, housing and more. If there is an area that interests you, attend the meetings. All meetings are public meetings meaning they are open to the public.

Join a Community Management Team or Neighborhood Association
In New Haven each neighborhood has a Community Management Team that meets monthly to review issues of crime and quality of life and to build community engagement. Join a meeting in your neighborhood.
